The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will vote on the proposed AB 32 scoping plan on December 11th, the state’s blueprint for implementing the new law to cap greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Not surprisingly, environmental interests want to use the law to limit development and are asking CARB to place a greater emission-reduction burden on housing than is warranted.

That’s not supported by science or the law – and it’s just not right! Homebuilders need to fight back!!

Contact CARB Board Members today. Here’s how:

STEP 1: Click on the link below to the “CARB Scoping Plan Comments.”

STEP 2: Fill out section asking for your contact information.

STEP 3: Type into “subject” line: “VOTE NO on new emission burdens for housing.”

STEP 4: Copy and paste the following in the message block:

I am writing to express strong concern about the proposed recommendation within the AB 32 Scoping plan to target a reduction of 5 million metric tons (MMT) annually of greenhouse gases from Regional Transportation-Related Targets. Specifically, we understand that the Board is being asked by some to increase that target to something higher, potentially significantly higher, than 5 million metric tons.

We strongly urge the Board NOT to increase the Regional Transportation-Related Targets any further. While we question whether sufficient scientific information exists to support quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions from passenger vehicles at the proposed 5 MMT level, we know of no credible scientific evidence that would indicate that larger reductions are reasonably achievable or sustainable without causing dislocations and extreme economic hardships.
