The master suite for this home in Winter Park, Fla., needed to be peaceful with a resort-like feeling while having plenty of light and a connection to the outdoor spaces. Also desired was a massage area and plenty of storage. The closet needed to be close to the laundry area.

The requirements took up a large part of the site’s footprint. Local building codes were restrictive. Other challenges included minimal doors yet privacy.

The solution Phil Kean Designs, also in Winter Park, came up with was to detach the spa room via a breezeway which allows a less restrictive setback. The master bedroom, master bath and spa room open inward to the spa level of the patio area for privacy. Glass walls keep the bath area light and bright. Built-ins and floating cabinets keep the rooms light and
uncluttered. A fireplace in the bed area adds a peaceful and romantic element.
